Reduction
Armor grants Reduction. When you are dealt damage, reduce the value by your Reduction value before converting that damage to wounds. (Example: If you have reduction 4, a damage result of 22 causes you to take 18 wounds.)
Armor is not the only source of Reduction, and similarly to Armor Target Number what grants each point of reduction is important to some techniques or effects. Reduction is divided in the following ways:
Armor Reduction: This is the reduction gained from your worn armor, if any. Armor Reduction is the most commonly circumvented form of reduction, as it is defined by having gaps or openings to exploit.
Persistent Reduction: This is reduction gained from all other sources, be they techniques, stance, thick hide, or a spell effect. Persistent Reduction is very rarely circumvented.
